Welcome back friends!
Now, this post is going to be about everything you need to prepare for yacht week or really any vacation where you will be primarily by water. I remember prior to me leaving for my trip I searched HIGH and LOW for anything to prep and came up short. Given the shortage of information on yacht week, I decided to make a post of all the things you may need before setting sail.
Passport - now I know this might seem like a given but you will be surprised the number of times people decide to look for their passport the day before and get met with disappointment. Check if your passport is one there but two not expired. I would also make a copy of your passport for identification and you don't have to carry it around everywhere with you.
Visa - In some countries, you may need to purchase a visa to visit even if it's for a week. I will say it was sixty-seven people on this trip and I can promise you not all of us were checked for this visa. For example, I wasn't checked so that was $50 down the drain but my boyfriend was checked and they charged him more for having the wrong dates. So it's best to get it just to be on the safe side.
Sunscreen - now I have no idea why so many people find this to be an unimportant packing item but it's incredibly important given you are about to be in the sun for 90% of your day for 7 days straight. I feel like I shouldn't have to add this but you know what here we are.
Liquid IV - I bought a pack of 10 and I am here to tell you I needed more. I don't think I've ever drank that much ever especially with the crew just having them coming back to back. You don't want to be hung over ON A BOAT out of all places. You will thank me later.
Advil/Ibuprofen - You know what it is. Look at #4 and it will make sense.
Motion sickness medication - Oddly enough I didn't get motion sickness until that last day but boy oh boy was it bad. My friends and I talked about how we started to have phantom waves where even when we were on land it felt like we were rocking. I highly suggest having that motion sickness medicine on deck (no pun intended).
Portable Fan - Let me explain. I bought this fan with the intention of using it on the boat. Do you know where I didn't expect to need it? The PLANE. For some odd reason, there was no air for my 10-hour flight to Instanbul. I literally passed my fan back and forth between me and the older ladies sitting next to me.
European Plug Adaptor - Our outlets are different than Europe so you have to have this. Its a must. You can find a lot of cheap ones on Amazon. You can even see mine on my Amazon storefront.
Anti -Diarrhea - Y'all please don't make me explain why you need this. Just bring it and thank me later.
International Hot Spot/Sim Card - Now I'm not technologically savvy so I don't know how to explain all of this stuff but what I do know is if you want your phone to run smoothly you gotta have this.
Bug spray - there were some critters out there that I've never seen before. We gotta protect our beautiful skin but mine was taken away given the flight restrictions. (Turkey has the weirdest flight requirements that they may or may not check)
Swimsuits Swimsuits Swimsuits - I ended up having to buy more because I literally didn't realize how many times I would be wearing swimsuits over any other regular clothes.
If you follow this packing list you should be good to go to set sail! Stay tuned for my next post next week.
